Psalm 73:26
Psalm 73:26
Jun 4
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26
Oftentimes there is suffering in this physical body. We all experience pain at some point due to our being housed—limited—within our physical bodies for our lifetimes on earth. Some suffer from cancer or other serious illnesses, some battle depression or other mental afflictions, some, like Joni Eareckson Tada, deal with paralysis and pain due to injury for years.
“Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Jesus heals!* He can remove any affliction in an instant! We have seen it and we believe it! While suffering, we still believe, and know that He is good.
But, should our hearts fail us, His strength nevertheless holds us. And, we can take comfort in the truth that Jesus knows firsthand what it felt like to be limited by a human body; that it was oftentimes uncomfortable for Him (He thirsted, He grew tired); that it was exceedingly difficult for God the Son to experience pain and death—a suffering, death, and resurrection that bought us our salvation; that He does not judge us for growing weary sometimes with an illness or its treatment, or unrelenting physical pain; and that one day we will be free from our earthly bodies forever and in the presence of our Savior. By that we are greatly comforted: a salvation that He bought for us, at a price that was excruciatingly painful for Him, that will one day be complete. Our Loving Savior. Our forever inheritance.
Until that day, we will walk in the victory of His resurrection. Jesus overcame sin, death, and the devil! God is in us, with us, and for us, the strength of our hearts and our portion forever. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He is working all things together for good to those who love Him, to those who are the called according to His purpose. He will give us supernatural strength every day—by the Holy Spirit and His word—to walk as overcomers. And, to rejoice and give glory to His Matchless, Marvelous, Amazing, All-Powerful, Wonderful, Saving Name!
